The device MultiAirLock is equipped with one endless feeding screw transporting the material into the compression chamber. Compression of the material is given by thrust rotary compression seal. This acts against direction of material flow with adjustable force. Material in the compression chamber prevents air passage between the hopper and sortie.
To eliminate any pulsation in the discharge of material from the endless screw due to its rotation, the outlet is fitted with a loosening rotor that keeps cutting off any clusters of material being pushed out of the endless screw area, thus ensuring that the material is discharged at a uniform rate, to be fed into the next downstream section of the process. This design is of advantage particularly when feeding blends of solid alternative fuels (TAP, Fluff) having low bulk weights, which tend to compress and cluster, into combustion device or pneumatic conveyance systems.
